Cloudview Quickstart

Cloudview for Hootsuite allows you to easily access your files on Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive & Box in a Hootsuite stream or inside Hootsuite's composer. (OneDrive is currently only available in composer and Box is currently only available in a stream)

NOTE: The images in this guide are from the Google Drive version, however the Dropbox, OneDrive and Box versions function similarly.

Getting Started

Adding one of the apps.

First, open the Hootsuite app directory and install one of the Cloudview apps.

Once you have installed an app, you can access it from within the Hootsuite composer or, you can add a stream to your Hootsuite dashboard by clicking the Add Stream button in your dashboard:

Next, click Apps and select the app you want to add to your dashboard:

Authorize the app.

The first time you add a Cloudview stream, you will be asked to connect with Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive/Box and authenticate:

Click the Sign in button, and a new tab will open in your browser taking you to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Box to authenticate.

Once you have authorized access to your files, you will be returned to the Hootsuite stream, and the root directory of your files will be displayed:

Any shared or team folders you have will be displayed here too.

Menu Options

In the app stream's menubar, there are four options:

Clicking the Create a folder icon  allows you to create a new folder in the current directory

Clicking the Upload to this folder icon  allows you to upload a new file to the current directory

Clicking the Search icon   will allow you to search for files by keyword. .

From the Settings menu  you can disconnect the current account and connect with a new one.

Folder Navigation

Just below the app's menu bar, is the folder navigation strip:

Clicking on a folder will take you to that folder and display all of the files/folders contained in it.

In-stream Options

Clicking the Share link on Hootsuite icon  will obtain a link that you can share, and add it to the network compose box.

If the file is an image, the Attach icon  will also be displayed. Clicking it will add the current image to the network compose box, allowing you to select it to include in outgoing social media messages.

If a preview of the file is available, clicking the file name will show it.

Clicking the Date will open the file in Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDriveBox.

Composer Media Libraries

Media Libraries allow you to easily access your files when using the Hootsuite composer to compose social media messages. Clicking on the New Post button in Hootsuite:

will open up the Hootsuite composer:

To display a Media Library, first click the Open Media Library link. With the Media Library now open,  click on the file source menu, find the source you want to use, and then finally click the Install link to install the source. You will then be asked to authorize the app on Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive/Box.

Once you have authorized the app, your files will be displayed:

Clicking a folder will open that folder and display any media or folders contained in that folder. Clicking an image will add it to the current post you are creating.

Entering text into the search box will search and display media that matches the keywords you have entered.
