Discord Quickstart

1. Initial Setup

When you first add the app to your Hootsuite dashboard, you will be prompted to authenticate on Discord:

Clicking the Authenticate on Discord button will open up a new tab in your browser on Discord:

Select the Discord server you would like to add the app to under the Add to server menu, and click the Continue button. Next, the application authorization page will be displayed:

Click the Authorize button to continue.

You will then be returned to your Hootsuite dashboard:

Click the Select channel button to select a server and one of its channels:

After you have selected a channel, it's posts will be displayed in the current stream:

2. Stream Features

Hovering over a post in stream will display the following icon bar:

Clicking the emoji will display an emoji picker, and allow you to add your "reaction" to this post:

Clicking the reply icon will display a text entry box at the bottom of the current post where you can enter your reply:

Clicking the pin icon will add the current post to your list of pinned posts.
Clicking the trash icon will delete the current post from the channel.

3. Adding New Posts

To add a new post to one of your channels, first click the write icon in the app's menu bar:

After clicking the icon, the following popup will be displayed:

Here you can select the server and channel you would like to send a post to. (the selected options will default to the server/channel selected in the current stream)

4. Hootsuite Plugin

The Discord for Hootsuite app also comes with a plugin which allows you to send posts from Hootsuite streams to your discord channels. Currently it is available in Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter) and YouTube streams. To access the plugin, click the horizontal ellipsis icon in the bottom right corner of any post:

Select Send to Discord, and the following popup will be displayed:

Here you can select the server and channel to save the text to, as well as edit the text to share.

5. Adding Additional Channels

To add additional channels, click the settings icon to display the following dropdown menu:

Next, click the Add server button, and a new tab will be displayed on Discord where you can select an additional server to add:

Select the server you want to add under the Add to server menu, and click the Continue, and then Authorize, buttons as you did for the first authorization. You will now have access to both servers:
